As a municipality, Kokava na Rimavicou (Poltár district) made a pleasant impression on me years ago with the natural mountainous scenery of the northern Novohrad area, with its historical monuments – the Lutheran and Catholic churches, the Jewish synagogue, the dilapidated building of the Forgáč family manor-house – and with the atmosphere of its folk festival Koliesko. It is at this festival, which has been taking place in this large and populated municipality since 1991, and then later when preparing a chapter on crafts and artistic expression for the monograph Kokava nad Rimavicou (2018) that I first met Ľubomíra Žilková, a successor and promoter of the weaving craft.
