On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the foundation of our institution, we decided to put forward certain types of products presented and sold in ÚĽUV’s exhibitions and shops using available archive materials and recollections from contemporaries. The older generation is sure to remember some products which now appear only rarely in our shops or are no longer sold there. The generation of producers able to produce attractive goods in thousands is, sadly, dying out. This is why we consider it important to remember the popular and most sought-after items from our shop shelves. We will gradually be presenting them, without any order of priority, as the stories behind each of ÚĽUV’s products could fill the pages of a whole issue of this magazine. We will mainly be showing off items made with the support of our institutions or which contributed to their preservation. Many of them became popular and sought-after not only in Slovakia, but also abroad. In this article, we present baskets, woven fabrics, leather bags, lamps with lampshades made from split wood and pottery by Frankovič.
