The ÚĽUV Banská Bystrica Regional Craft Center (RCC) was founded in 2005, and is a contact point providing advisory and educational activities for the area of Central Slovakia and has its own team of local artistic advisors and lectors in crafts.
It is located in the town centre in a renovated townhouse from the early 16th century on Dolná street, and its most important activity is its year-round ÚĽUV School of Crafts with courses for children, young people and adults. The courses are short-term and long-term; some have accreditation. In July and August, weekly craft camps are available for children aged from 8 to 15 as part of the Holiday with Crafts event.
Anyone with an interest in traditional products can try out their own talent, mainly in the pottery, wire craft, textile and woodcarving workshops, as well as in the workshop for painting under glass. As needed, the ÚĽUV Banská Bystrica RCC can also offer workshops on other traditional crafts. Its range of activities for groups also includes visits of the RCC promises with demonstrations of traditional crafts as well as creative workshops where primary school children, among others, can make their own small craft product.
The ÚĽUV Banská Bystrica RCC also has a shop selling folk art products and a thematic library.
