Open Studio is ÚĽUV’s creative space, which attempts to support the creation of new products in the spirit of timeless design and precise craft finish. The basic tool of the Open Studio is cooperating on different levels with designers, producers and art schools to lead to synergies and high-quality design output. It follows on from ÚĽUV’s projects and competitions which are aimed at connecting craft and design (Tandems, Tradition in Design, Rings in Water).
Submitting new designs isn’t only the privilege of designers; producers can also express them artistically. The development process is stimulated thanks to specialist advice from consultants and members of the Open Studio Council. The output of this cooperation can be products made by selected producers of traditional crafts in small or medium series, distributed via ÚĽUV’s shops to the general public.
The Open Studio welcomes everyone interested in participating in the creation appraisal of tradition and moving it towards contemporary design.
