ÚĽUV library

The ÚĽUV library is a unique library with a specialised collection built up from 1954. It safeguards and makes accessible a wide range of specialist publications from the field of traditional folk art production, crafts, folk art, ethnography, architecture, design and other related fields. For many years, it has met the needs of folk art producers, artists, internal specialist staff, designers, students, researchers and teachers, attendees of crafts courses and the general public.

The collection today consists of over 12,000 books which can be browsed using the online catalogue. It contains much inspirative literature which is unique in Slovakia: historical sources, collections of magazines, collections of ornaments and also practical guides to craft techniques. The library also holds many rare old publications which map out traditional crafts and techniques of hand-made work. Some are even available in a digitalised form on the website of the ÚĽUV library.

As well as in Bratislava, library collections are also open to the public in the Regional Craft Centers of ÚĽUV:
