Museum of Folk Art Production

Museum of Folk Art Production

The Museum of Folk Art Production in Stupava was established in 2009. It is a specialised museum covering the whole of Slovakia and focuses on the documentation of artistic expression in the traditional folk environment in the form of home-made or craft products. It also maps out forms of institutionalised folk art production, mainly through the influence of the Centre for Folk Art Production from 1945 until the present day.

In terms of origin, the majority of the collections and documentation of objects come from the former documentation collections of the Centre for Folk Art Production. It also holds products by craftspeople who were awarded the title of Master of Folk Art Production and works from the competition of craft-focused design “Rings in Water”.

The museum makes it possible to study its collections and documents in person. The museum’s exhibition activities are organised by the ÚĽUV galleries in Bratislava, Košice and Tatranská Lomnica.
