ÚĽUV has long supported the creative valorisation of craft knowledge and skills by cooperating with secondary art schools. It thus contributes to the creation of a stimulating environment for studying creative and productive branches of art and design, focusing on the development of students’ craft skills. Following on from the annual set of topics which ÚĽUV has in recent years been devoting to a chosen group of traditional materials, verified partnerships with secondary schools are developed in parallel at the level of varied educational projects. In the case of the broad concept of wood, this included, for example the popularisation of the Kyjatice toy, added in late 2022 to the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Slovakia. In this article, we present the cooperation between ÚĽUV and the Josef Vydra School of Applied Arts (ŠUP) in Bratislava, the School of Applied Arts (ŠUP) in Ružomberok and also their cooperation with the School of Design – Bohumil Bača Private School of Applied Arts in Bratislava.
