In the Country of Crafts
The aim of the national arts and crafts competition In the Country of Crafts (for children and young people aged 8-16 years) is to arouse interest in traditional folk crafts and strengthen their consciousness of cultural identity, to encourage creativity in the field of crafts and to provide an opportunity for creative use of leisure time.
The competition, which is announced at two-year intervals, is open to individual participants as well as collectives (pupils of primary schools, eight-year grammar schools, pupils of elementary art schools, children attending art and craft courses in leisure centres, cultural and educational centres, etc.). The criteria for evaluating the works include inspiration from traditional craftsmanship, originality, creativity, as well as aesthetic, artistic and craft qualities of the workmanship. Therefore, the competition is also a challenge for their teachers and lecturers. The efforts of all those involved will culminate in a public announcement of the results and the awarding of prizes at the opening of the exhibition.
