Rings in Water 2022

The “Rings in Water” competition initiates and supports the creation of new designer products inspired by traditional craft. It develops a dialogue about traditional values, how they are safeguarded and how they appear in contemporary craft, applied art and design. In the course of its existence, the competition has earned its reputation as a respected competition, not only within Slovakia but also abroad.

The competition is open to individuals and groups who find inspiration for their work in traditional craft, in their method of work or in the object’s original practical, aesthetic value and function. We will accept works of applied art, design or artistic craft made using final materials of metal, wood, textile, glass, pottery and natural materials, and free works with an experimental or environmental relevance.

Competitors can submit their works in three separate sections:
section A – designers, producers, artists, architects, university students
section B – secondary school students
section C – all competition participants without any limit concerning the material:
1st Category “Tradition”: tradition in a wider sense as an inspiration for experimental design
2nd Category “Packagin”: multi-purpose packaging for a folk art production with an emphasis on imagination, aesthetics and ecology
