One of the latest awardees of the title Master of Folk Art Production is Jaroslav Švihra of Nitrianska Streda, district of Topoľčany. He was awarded the prestigious title for his highly regarded professionalism in processing wood manually on a lather (working as a turner). He has been fascinated by wood since his early childhood. His creative beginnings were influenced by his grandfather and uncle. Later on, it was turner Juraj Leporis of Prievidza and, finally ÚĽUV’s designers who shaped and fine tuned his views and skills. He is hugely passionate about producing wooden bowls, boxes, carved spoons, as well as salt and pepper shakers made of beef bone in combination with wood.
