A native of the village of Divina, surrounded by forests, he received private fine arts education and has been active in craft production since 1980. He comes from among four brothers, three of whom are engaged in artistic woodworking. In his early creative years, he mainly focused on oil painting, gradually shifting his interest towards wood and other natural materials, from which, thanks to his talent and sense for materials, toys, hanging embossed decorations, jewelry, hair combs, hairpins, boxes, and more were created. From 1985-1992, he closely collaborated with the Folk Art Production Centre. Thanks to this collaboration, a multitude of designs by the Folk Art Production Centre’s artist Janka Menkynova were brought to light. Currently, he primarily dedicates himself to creating wooden folding sculptures and relief compositions of various sizes, capturing scenes from traditional folk culture, yet his wide range of inspirations also includes the present (sacred motifs, urban motifs, female nudes, musicians, angels, animals, athletes, etc.). When envisioning future themes, he is often guided by the wood itself, which with its grain and color tones suggests specific motifs. He mostly works with harder woods with distinctive color and wood grain. He treats his products with linseed oil. In addition to woodcarving, he also masters the technique of metal embossing, as well as working with horn, bone, and metal. A typical feature of his works and products is their precision, delicacy, and perfect material finishing. Equally important (especially for sculptures) is their articulation and composability.

He currently lives and works in Považská Bystrica. He is a regular participant in various events – Masters’ Days of the Folk Art Production Centre in Bratislava, the crafts festival EĽRO in Kežmarok, Radvanský fair, as well as other craft fairs and folklore festivals (Myjava, Východná, Detva, etc.). He also sporadically showcases his work on television. His pieces have been created for English Prince Charles and cycling icon Peter Sagan. His double-sided wooden folding Bethlehem won second place at the global Bethlehem exhibition in Rome in 2008.
