He gained practical experience in the field of horn processing from his father-in-law Matej Caban, a master of folk art production. The work fascinated him with its originality. He began working at the ÚĽUV after Matej Caban’s death in 1977, when he also acquired some machinery for horn processing and comb production. For the ÚĽUV, he produced utility items with a smooth surface finish – salt shakers, boxes, decorative items, as well as traditional flax combs, musical horns, and hunting cups. He was a member of the Club of Friends of Fine Arts in Prešov and was interested in artistic crafts. He collaborated with the ÚĽUV continuously for 11 years. His work was always precise, technically clean, and professionally mastered. In 1988, he was awarded the qualification of master of folk art production in the field of horn production by the Commission for Assessing the Professional Qualifications of Folk Art Production Workers.
