He came from a family of potters Čižmárikovci, who supplied their products to eastern Slovakia. In 1947, he attended a specialized course for potters from Pozdišovce, where he demonstrated his skills. That same year, he joined a production cooperative in Michalovce. He devoted himself to the production of traditional Pozdišovce pottery.

In 1981, he obtained a certificate of recognition as a master of folk art production, awarded by the Commission for Assessing the Professional Qualifications of Workers in Folk Art Production.
