He came from a family where trough-making had been practiced for several generations. He was among the outstanding experts in the technique of carved wood. He produced troughs, scoops, ladles, and spoons. He started collaborating with the Craft and Art Production Center (ÚĽUV) in 1959. During the collaboration with ÚĽUV, he was able to further develop and apply the traditional technique in contemporary households. His product range expanded to include fruit and salad bowls of various shapes and wooden cutlery. In 1963, he obtained a certificate of qualification as a master of folk art production in the wood production sector – trough-making, awarded by the Commission for Assessing the Professional Qualifications of Folk Art Production Workers.
