Prominent representative of non-professional folk art in Slovakia. His journey led from utility vessels to free creation. Plastically embellished handles of his Gemer pitchers, most often in zoomorphic form, hinted at his extraordinary inventiveness. He had a unique approach to depicting subjects. His sculptures with artistic qualities and significance belong to the forefront of folk art of the second half of the 20th century. As the first to represent Slovak non-professional woodcarving in exhibitions of naive art at home and abroad. In 1959, he obtained a qualification certificate as a master of folk artistic production in the wood industry, awarded by the Commission for Assessing the Professional Competence of Folk Artistic Production Workers.
