The young author was born in Trstená on January 21, 1987. Inspired by his old grandfather, who worked with wood, he decided to study at the Secondary Vocational School in Nižná, specializing in artistic-craft processing of wood. In school, Labdík became familiar with chiseling, carving techniques, wood surface finishes, and preservation, and his first carving works were created there. During his studies, he participated in various exhibitions and events in the field of wood carving. In 2004, he presented his work in Kežmarok at the European Folk Crafts event, exhibited at Orava Castle (2004), and in Brno (2005). With his first sculpture “Divine Heart,” he participated in the national art competition Art Spectrum (2005), and in 2005, he exhibited at the international sculptor’s symposium “Returns to Siváň” in Babín, from which the sculpture “Bagpiper” originates. The carver, who also deals with restoration and preservation, set up his workshop in the basement of a block of flats where he lives, and in the future, he aims to further integrate craftsmanship into his life.
