He was a versatile folk artist and had excellent knowledge of his region under the Belianske Tatras. A vibrant musician, full of optimism and humor, known simply as Maćek among his peers, performed with his “band” at numerous folk events at home and abroad. He mastered the “Zlobcoki,” traditional wooden violins made from a single piece of maple with a spruce top, not only as a player but also as a master craftsman. He also enjoyed making and tuning drumbles, and his carvings, especially the decorated wooden axes adorned with embossing and scorching, were equally famous. He had a very sensitive perception of the surrounding nature, which was especially evident in finding suitable materials for his musical instruments and carvings. He translated this sensitivity not only into his products but also into the beautiful singing of Goral folk songs and dances. He was also an exceptionally skilled storyteller of folk tales, legends, life anecdotes, and humorous stories. For many years, he collaborated with the ÚĽUV (Center for Folk Art Production), obtaining a master craftsman qualification in wooden and metal folk art in 1968. His intelligence and knowledge of traditional ways of life made him popular among researchers, with whom he always found time to engage. He passed away at the end of 1970 at the age of 68
