Although the creation of corn husk figures is not traditionally found in the historical range of the Upper Nitra region (more typical of regions in southern Slovakia), it has captured the interest of many women, who have particularly taken a liking to the technique of making husk dolls. Daniela Vanková, who worked as a teacher at a Special Elementary School in Prievidza, has been dedicated to this craft since 2000. She adorns the figures with characteristic attributes typical of their lives and activities (folk costume, headscarf, rakes, hoes, cradle, etc.). She collaborates with the ULUV (Centre for Folk Art Production) as a workshop instructor at the Regional Crafts Center in Bratislava, mainly in workshops for children.
