She graduated from a secondary pedagogical school and worked as a teacher in a kindergarten. When she lost her sight due to health complications related to diabetes, she found meaning in life through working with clay.

She first came in contact with the material through the Austrian artist Regina Breyer, who showed her that she could create despite being blind. She later completed art therapy with Jaroslava Šicková Fabrici, who motivated her to continue with pottery and work with children. She learned to throw on the wheel by herself and, since she enjoyed the work, she gradually started making cups, bowls, and other utility items. She opened her own business in 2000 for producing decorative and utility ceramics as well as working with people. In 2001, she co-founded the civic association Keramiklub, which organized creative workshops for children, adults, as well as children with mental or physical disabilities or special educational needs.

After the dissolution of the association, she opened a sheltered workshop in new premises, where she not only produces but also teaches ceramics. For many years, her husband helped her with work, being her right hand in the workshop and activities related to administration, lectures, exhibitions, and markets. After her husband’s death, she is assisted by a work assistant.

Her utilitarian vessels hand thrown on the wheel are characterized by rounded shapes. Her skillful fingers most often shape cups, bowls, and small vases, with each item enriched with a fine spiral created at the end of the throwing on the wheel. In addition, she also engages in slab construction and modeling, creating various platters and other types of products. She enriches the decorations with relief treatments, whether imprints or attached decorations. The outer parts of the products are often patinated while the inner parts are glazed with various colored glazes.

She participates in various festivals and fairs such as: Master Days, Town Hall Markets, Ceramic Markets in Pezinok, Open Courtyards in Fels am Wagram, and others. She gives lectures on the lives of the visually impaired and in 2018, an acclaimed poetic documentary titled “Sonja” was made about her.
