A brooch made of 100% wool felt with embroidered pattern is part of a wider collection of felt products “PEŠKY”. The collection was created as part of the joint project Folk Costume as Inspiration, organized by the Regional Innovation and Implementation Agency based in Piešťany, together with the Workshop of Folk Tradition and Crafts in Uherský Ostroh and the Center of Folk Art Production.

“The brooch is adorned with delicate monochromatic embroidery, inspired by traditional folk patterns from the surroundings of Piešťany. Its dominant motif is grape and precisely embroidered holes, which were an essential part of decorating sleeves and aprons in the past. This minimalist felt jewel combines respect for traditional craftsmanship and modern design.” The minimalist ornament stands out thanks to the contrast of surfaces and highlights the beauty of the original pattern. The color scheme (white, yellow, blue) reflects the traditional palette of costumes from the Piešťany region. These small jewels were created in the spirit of sustainability as a byproduct of felt shoe production, thus meaningfully utilizing every piece of material.” The design was created by Mária Farkasová.
