The incentive for the woodcarving art of Slavomír Albert from Handlová was the effort to promote Slovak folk art among friends abroad. He carves shepherd’s dishes – especially ladles with figurative handles, molds for cornhusk figures, decorated sticks, chains from a single piece of wood, figurative sculptures and reliefs with motifs of Jánošík and shepherds. Currently, he focuses on making ladles from shale, and also uses precious shale as a frame, background for Nativity scenes.
