Woolen slippers – cut-out pattern “grapes”
Woolen slippers – cut-out pattern “grapes”
The “PEŠKY Slippers are a modern interpretation of traditional Slovak home footwear. The clean, slip-on design is based on historical “slippers” and combines craftsmanship heritage with contemporary minimalist design, 100% wool felt provides natural warmth, comfort, and functionality.
The decoration on the top – a cut-out motif – is inspired by traditional embroidery from the area around Piešťany, especially from sleeves and aprons with a typical grape motif and embroidered holes. The minimally processed ornament highlights the beauty and delicacy of the original pattern. The slippers carry the story of local tradition, transformed into a modern form – they are intended for everyday wear in a home or bath environment, combining authentic expression with modern comfort.
Slippers made of 100% wool felt with an embroidered pattern are part of the wider collection of felt products “PEŠKY”. The collection was created as part of the joint project Folk Costume as Inspiration, organized by the Regional Innovation and Implementation Agency based in Piešťany together with the Workshop of Folk Tradition and Crafts in Uherský Ostroh and the Center of Folk Art Production.
The author of the concept design is Janka Motyčková, the author of the slipper shape and the motif of the cut-out “grape” is Soňa Sadilková. The manufacturer of the slippers is comp ART s. r. o.”
