Wool slippers – embroidered pattern “leaves”
Wool slippers – embroidered pattern “leaves”
Slippers PEŠKY are a modern interpretation of traditional Slovak home footwear. The clean, slip-on form is based on historical “slippers” and connects traditional craftsmanship with contemporary minimalist design. 100% wool felt provides natural warmth, comfort, and functionality.
The top decoration – a delicate monochromatic embroidery made of cotton thread – draws inspiration from traditional embroideries from the vicinity of Piešťany, particularly from cuffs and aprons featuring the typical grape motif and decorative eyelets. The minimalist ornament stands out thanks to the contrast of surfaces and highlights the beauty of the original pattern. The slippers carry the story of local tradition transformed into a modern form. They are designed for everyday wear in a home or spa environment and combine authentic expression with modern comfort.
Slippers made of 100% wool felt with embroidered patterns are part of the broader collection of felt products “PEŠKY”. The collection was created as part of the joint project “Folk Costume as Inspiration”, organized by the Regional Innovation and Implementation Agency based in Piešťany together with the Workshop of Folk Traditions and Crafts in Uherský Ostroh and the Center of Folk Art Production.
The author of the conceptual design and embroidery patterns is Janka Motyčková, while the designer of the slipper shape is Soňa Sadilková. The slippers are manufactured by comp ART s .r. o. and the embroidery is done by master craftswoman ĽUV Monika Kunová.
