The Folk Art Association of Békes County (Békés Megyei Népművészeti Egyesület) and project partners supported by the International Vysegrad Fund have launched an 18-month international project named „Revitalizing Folk Crafts of the V4 Countries through the Development of the Creative Industry.“
Between March 6 and 8, 2026, project members actively participated in the XX. Carpathian Basin Folk Textile Festival, partly as guests and partly as lecturers. Core theme of the professional conference held on the third day was the way the countries of the V4 preserve and pass on their folk textile traditions. Among the topics presented were embroidery, weaving, felting, lacemaking, as well as the culture of traditional costumes.
Documentation of the whole process and public presentation of the results will contribute to the preservation of traditional culture and at the same time open up new opportunities for the creative industry. Almost 20 experts from all the four countries work towards achieving this goal.
