Exhibitions in its own galleries and exhibitions intended to be presented abroad have been part of ÚĽUV permanent cultural and promotional activities for six decades now. Several of ÚĽUV’s events are repeated regularly.
For twenty years, we have been organising in Bratislava a festival of traditional crafts and folk production called ÚĽUV Craftsmen Days. Every two years, ÚĽUV hosts competitions for young professional designers and for pupils of primary schools and art schools.
For 80 years, the Centre for Folk Art Production has been protecting and developing living heritage in the form of traditional crafts and homemade products. This remarkable anniversary will be celebrated at the largest urban craft festival in the country.
The Centre for Folk Art Production (ÚĽUV) has a mission to safeguard and develop traditional crafts and home-made production in Slovakia. Both in the past and today, it focuses mainly on looking for, mapping out and protecting crafts that are dying out.
In front of the ÚĽUV shop, craftsmen and masters of folk art production will meet on 21 July - 12 August 2023 (every Friday and Saturday ❘ 10.00 a. m. – 06.00 p. m.) to present their skills and share their precious knowledge. You can look forward to demonstrations of tinkering, gingerbread decorating, curved needle embroidery, pottery, blacksmithing and woodcarving.
ÚĽUV organizes SPLINTS WEAVING WORKSHOP in the frame of the European Days of Arts and Crafts. The workshop is aimed at familiarizing with the process of making a splints basket from the beginning to the final product - collecting, steaming and chopping the wood, preparing the splints and knitting.
