General Terms and Conditions for Courses with International Participation

These General Terms and Conditions („Terms“) apply to courses with international participation organised by Ústredie ľudovej umeleckej výroby (Centre for Folk Art Production), Obchodná 64, 816 11 Bratislava, Company ID: 00164429, craft@uluv.sk, a contributory organization established by the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic (hereinafter referred to as “ÚĽUV”). ÚĽUV delivers educational programmes through ÚĽUV´s School of Crafts, operating at its Regional Craft Centers in Bratislava, Banská Bystrica and Košice.

These Terms govern the contractual relationship between ÚĽUV and course participants arriving from foreign countries.

Educational activities, courses conducted by ÚĽUV´s School of Craft are open to natural persons or legal entities with full legal capacity. A „participant“ is any person who submits a completed application form for a specific course or event organized by ÚĽUV, including any persons on whose behalf the application has been submitted.

Article I – ÚĽUV´s School of Crafts

1.1 ÚĽUV´s School of Crafts provides non – formal, interest – based education focused on traditional crafts as a part of cultural heritage in its Regional Craft Centers in Bratislava, Banská Bystrica, and Košice (hereinafter referred to as the “School”).

1.2 The School’s mission is to maintain and promote cultural heritage, strengthen participants ‘connection to traditional craft and provide high quality professional educational programmes for various target groups.

1.3 Courses are delivered according to the published programme, schedule and venue listed on the official website www.uluv.sk

Article II – Registration and Formation of Contract

2.1 A binding agreement between ÚĽUV and the participant is concluded upon confirmation of the participant’s course application by ÚĽUV and the full course fee payment based on the issued invoice.

2.2 Registration for the course is completed by submitting the electronic application form (hereinafter referred to as the “application”) on the ÚĽUV website www.uluv.sk. The application is valid only if all required fields are completed correctly. Registration via the online application form published on the ÚĽUV website is considered accepted upon receipt of a confirmation email from an authorized ÚĽUV employee (not the automatic notification of submission). This confirmation creates a provisional booking. Together with the booking confirmation ÚĽUV sends the participant an invoice for payment.  If payment is not received in full by the stated due date, the agreement (provisional booking) is automatically cancelled.

2.3 After full payment, the participant will receive a confirmation of enrolment, including practical information and course instructions by email to the address provided during registration.

2.4 The participant is entitled to cancel or withdraw the application within 24 hours of its delivery to ÚĽUV without stating a reason. The cancellation must be sent by email to courses@uluv.sk. Later cancellations are also possible and are subject to the cancellation policy in Article V, Paragraph 5.2.

2.6 By submitting the application the participant acknowledges the potential risk of injury when using tools and equipment during practical instruction.

2.7 By submitting the application the participant confirms that all information provided is accurate and complete, including diacritical marks. The application constitutes a binding document for the provision of services and serves as a basis for invoicing. ÚĽUV reserves the right to cancel the participants ‘registration if incorrect and/or incomplete information prevents proper communication.

2.8 By submitting the application the participant confirms that they have been acquainted with the General Terms and Conditions.

2.9 ÚĽUV reserves the right to cancel a course no later than 30 calendar days before the scheduled start date if the minimum number of participants is not reached.

2.10 The course offer becomes valid upon publication on the ÚĽUV website. Course capacity is limited. Priority is given to participants who register earlier and pay within the specified due date.

Article III – Course Payment

3.1 By submitting a binding application under Article II, Section 2.2, the participant undertakes to pay the agreed price and to attend the course properly and on time.

3.2 The course fee must be paid in full in advance according to the invoice details.

3.3 If payment is not received by the due date, the participant´s reservation will be cancelled.

3.4 A participant´s place in the course is secured only after full payment has been received.

3.5 Payment is considered complete on the date the funds are credited to ÚĽUV´s bank account.

Article IV- Price

4.1 The course fee is determined by a pricing decision/calculation sheet issued by ÚĽUV. The course fee is final and includes lecturer’s fee, teaching materials, and use of tools and equipment during the course.

4.2 Any items created by the participant during the course remain the participant´s property.

Article V – Withdrawal and Cancellation Policy

5.1 The participant may withdraw from the course before the course begins in accordance with Article II, Section 2.4, by email to courses@uluv.sk.

5.2 Cancellation fees apply as follows:
a) 46 or more calendar days before the course – 0% of the course fee
b) 45–31 calendar days before the course – 50% of the course fee
c) 30–1 calendar days before the course – 100% of the course fee

5.3 The day the cancellation notice is delivered is not counted when calculating the notice period. Refunds, if applicable, will be processed after deducting the relevant cancellation fee.

5.4 ÚĽUV may cancel a course if minimum capacity is not reached 30 days before the start date. In such cases, participants will receive a full refund.

5.5 Either party may withdraw from the agreement if performance becomes impossible or extraordinarily difficult due to unforeseeable serious circumstances beyond their control (e.g., state of emergency, natural disaster, official prohibition, urgent hospitalization). In such case the affected party must notify and substantiate them to the other party without delay, both parties ‘obligation under agreement shall cease, neither party may claim damages.

Article VI- Missed Classes

6.1 Participants are not entitled to a replacement classes or financial compensation for missed sessions.

Article VII – Rights and Obligations

7.1. Participant agree to:
– follow all safety and organizational instructions

–  arrive on time
– attend in good physical and mental conditions
– act responsibly to prevent harm to themselves or property
– comply with applicable public health or governmental regulations when required

7.2. School obligations include:
– Informing participants of all significant facts affecting their rights and obligations.
– Ensuring adequate lecturers, supervision, materials, and technical conditions.

7.3. ÚĽUV may exclude a participant from the course without refund in cases including: serious or repeated breach of rules, failure to follow safety instructions, theft, intoxication or substance use, repeated late arrival, concealment of a health condition that may endanger themselves or others.

7.4. ÚĽUV is not liable for injuries resulting from failure to follow safety instructions, force majeure events, temporary internet outages, loss, damage or theft of unattended personal belongings.

Article VIII – Certificate of Completion

8.1 Participants will receive a certificate of completion free of charge.

Article IX – Final Provisions

9.1 All teaching materials provided by ÚĽUV are protected by intellectual property rights. Participant may not reproduce, copy or distribute such materials without prior written consent.

9.2 These General Terms and Conditions enter into force upon their publication on the official ÚĽUV website.

9.4 Compliance with these General Terms and Conditions is overseen by the Director of the relevant Regional Craft Centre.
