Martin Mešša

Loom weaver Mária Tomisová from eastern Slovakia started to work for what became ÚĽUV twenty-three years ago. She made openwork textiles from designs by the artist Oľga Koreňová, who was inspired by the patterns and technique of traditional eastern Slovak openwork textiles. These textiles are marked by their high emphasis on precision detail. The works of Mária Tomisová are marked by her high craft technique. She participated in the Rings on Water 2002 competition. She passes on her knowledge and experience to other generations – not only to her daughter and granddaughter but also to children at the School of Crafts and other ÚĽUV events. In 2002 she was awarded the title Master of Folk Art Production.
