Alena Rybáriková

Zuzana Madošová (1923) comes from Poniky, a village located south of Banská Bystrica where she has lived all her life. She grew up in a farmer’s family and like most women she was involved in activities related to making of clothing fabrics and household textiles. She used to weave both linen and carpets. Zuzana Madošová was embroidering already as a young girl. Gradually, she learned all techniques and patters. She is one of the last embroideresses that do all types of embroidery with a crooked needle. Her collaboration with ÚĽUV started almost from the inception of the organization, making up more than fifty years now. She has contributed to the production of parts of folk costumes for folklore ensembles and for ÚĽUV. She has embroidered a large number of tablecloths, bedspreads, pillows representing a successful assortment of goods. Even today, despite her age, she embroiders daily. For a long time, she well deserves the title of the Mistress of Folk Arts and Crafts that she holds.
