Expensive materials in Chinese textile and clothes making

Chinese textiles were brought to Europe as luxury goods during medieval times and their use was inspired and demanded by noblemen and commons. Silk production which in Europe was considered the top of weaving craft was invented in China. Keeping silk moths and the whole process all the way through weaving of this admirable textile has been known in China since the third millenium BC, according to the records. Thick and long silk thread influenced the making of the first weaving machines, thanks to which in the first millennium AD. Craftsmen were able to weave complicated structures of multi-coloured fabrics with complicated patterns. Chinese weavers developed some of their textile techniques and decorative motifs, but the history of textile production in China reflects not only the original Chinese culture but also the rich influence of other cultures. All together this created a unique clothing tradition.
