Glass with messages from space

Glass with messages from space

Dušan Mikolaj

In human history, glass has been mentioned for around five millennia already, but its tradition as a high art form is not even one hundred years old. Until the mid-20th century, all graduates of glass-making vocational and professional schools left to work in factories on machines producing practical items. And a few individuals became company designers for new collections of sets for public institutions and households. Later, a few pupils were given the opportunity to study in secondary glass-making schools and universities with a focus on art. The first ever university graduate with a high level of artistic preparation for free glass-making art was Ján Zoričák, from the village of Ždiar in the High Tatras.
