Miro Barnišin
Miro Barnišin began to work in craft and design mainly thanks to his initial fascination with matter and shape. He grew up in the Rajec valley, where authentic craft was already practically non-existent. He gradually began to work with wood, and also metal in its machined form. He was also interested in natural wickerwork, rootlet or splint baskets, and tried to note down the knowledge of old masters. He later came to work with tree stump tissue in the form of traditional shepherd’s vessels and gradually focused more markedly on other techniques. At present, he mainly produces thin-walled articles which are striking in their subtlety, which is determining for their design.
