The producer of folk art objects made out of wood growths Pavel Ferdinandy has been working in this field since 2004. As he says himself, he is not a woodcarver, but rather a maker of walking sticks capable of holding a woodcarving knife and chisels in his hands. Today he makes – in the cellar of his block of flats – a wide range of products: various types of osekanec sticks, wooden or brass shepherd’s hooks, shepherd’s crooks, sticks inlaid with tin, walking sticks, hiking sticks, hunters’ sticks, shooting sticks, acoustic sticks, as well as sticks combined with antlers or knives. His wooden, iron and brass shepherd’s axes, mining and best man’s axes and hatchets. The simple smooth sticks are no less interesting, as well as those decorated with geometrical and plant patterns or ornamented with faces and even animal heads. He was awarded the title of Master of Folk Art Production in 2020 for his production of decorated sticks.
