Lifelong ÚĽUV – Remembering Anna Chlupová

Zora Valentová

From the beginnings of ÚĽUV’s activity, the organisation’s employees typically worked there for many years, or their whole life. In ÚĽUV’s case, it was the nature of the work that played its role, not only attracting people, but also binding them to it. It was attractive due to the specific area of its work, art and craft, research and creative opportunities, and was binding by bringing together a large group of individuals, the best representatives of varied crafts and traditional production in Slovakia. This was also the case of Mrs Anna Chlupová who, in terms of the length of her work in this organisation, stands at the top of the list of colleagues whose names should not remain unnoticed in the history of ÚĽUV. She joined the organisation at the age of eighteen as a graduate of the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Bratislava, textile section. She worked for 47 years at the Centre for Folk Art Production, which is the longest time ever among all its employees.
