Interview with Patrik Illo

Patrik Illo works in glass design, non-commissioned art and heads the Glass studio at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava (AFAD). He graduated from the glass department at AFAD under Juraj Gavula in 1998. As a student, he was already working as a designer for the Rona glassworks in Lednické Rovne; today, he is the head designer, but he has also worked for Czech and Polish glassworks. He is the artist behind dozens of successful designs which helped the Rona glassworks gain the reputation of a leading world-class producer not only through its modern technology, but also via its excellent design. He holds several awards for his work, and has had many exhibitions in Slovakia and abroad and taken part in glass-making symposia.
