SOŇA BEZÚCHOVÁ – Happy lace-making

Ľubica Poncik

Since childhood, Soňa Bezúchová has lived in the world of lace-making. She masters the traditional patterns of Špania dolina and her own work overlaps into applied design. From small table linen and pictures, she moved on to more complicated, larger pictures and well thought-out interior and clothing accessories. Her typical portfolio consists of greetings cards, handbags, jewellery, cushions and primarily pictures. Her sources of inspirations are simple plant and geometrical motifs; from the world of architecture, she admires the Gothic movement. She prepares her designs carefully, and sometimes spends hours over them. She only makes a sketch of the contours, filling them in only in her mind. She gradually adds to them, choosing the thickness of the lines, the combination of colours and shapes. For many people, craft becomes a hobby and a relaxing pastime. For Soňa Bezúchová, her hobby turned to mastery.
