Lucia Šlamiarová
Tabara N’Diaye was born in Paris, but her roots go back to faraway Senegal. Her parents were originally from the town of Thies, which is known as the capital of basket-making in Senegal. Weaving baskets is a craft which women in the Senegalese countryside pass down from generation to generation. When she used to travel there for the holidays as a child, and also later as an adult, she always saw the craftswomen and their craft as something joyful. The sense of duty and fellowship which she felt as she wove under a baobab with her children inspired her to establish her own brand, La Basketry, in 2017.
