Munich festival of art jewellery

After an enforced pandemic break, the “festival” of art jewellery – Munich Jewellery Week (MJW) – was back in full swing in Munich in early March. Last year’s edition was held with a postponed summer date, but this year the event took place in its full size and strength. The foundation stone of the event is the ‘Schmuck’ international competitive show of art jewellery which has been held since 1959. The show also includes the Herbert Hoffman award, which is always given to three artists. Over time, independent exhibitions in the city centre, small galleries, studios, shops or metro underpasses gradually joined the show itself, organised as part of the international craft trade fair (IHM). In 2015, the Current Obsession platform gave the name of “Munich Jewellery Week” (MTW) to the group of small initiatives, whose numbers grow organically each year.
