The transformation of natural materials into objects at the hands of people still reminds us today of the origins of human culture, and continues to link us to nature. On the one hand, people can discover and respect the properties instilled in these materials by nature. On the other hand, we use these properties to our own advantage by transforming them into cultural artefacts. Nature thus becomes part of human civilisation through these materials, and the objects produced can thus be seen as a figurative interface between nature and culture.
