Shaping the future with respect for the past

Shaping the future with respect for the past

As a production organisation, ÚĽUV used to work directly with craftspeople. For example, in the field of education, written archives mention training for ÚĽUV’s specialist staff in the School Institution of Art Production in Prague in the 1950s, teaching craft techniques in the field with the aim of training new producers, as well as joint activities in which craftspeople and ÚĽUV artists exchanged practical technological experiences. In this way, ÚĽUV trained producers directly for the needs of their sales. The state, naturally, provided secondary school vocational programmes as part of its formal schooling focusing on traditional crafts (pottery, woodcarving, blacksmithing, basket-making, glass-making etc.).
