Headpiece – a parta from Lišov

Jana Čerepová

I was born in the Novohrad region. My ancestors came from Ábelová (Lučenec district). Alongside their regular employment, they were also involved in craft production. My great-grandfather Michal Told was a well-known furrier, my great-grandmother and my grandmother embroidered and sewed traditional folk costumes. In addition, during ÚĽUV’s survey of this village in the 1950s, my grandmother Mária Mravíková provided information and showed off the local folk clothing. In our family, the women made “pearly bonnets”. My sister Nadežda Knapeková and I have been maintaining for several years the tradition of making traditional clothing including bonnets and headpieces. In my article, I describe the production of a headpiece from Lišov (Krupina district), which uses wire.
