Wireworking is a unique craft whose transformation from an itinerant secondary employment to an artistic craft still inspires people today. Although it has lost to a great extent its original utilitarian function, working with wire continues to provide new opportunities and forms which made it relevant even today. We invited four experts who are active in wireworking and traditional crafts in Slovakia and the Czech Republic to share their perspective on this phenomenon. We asked them what makes wireworking so valuable, why it continues to attract enthusiasts, and how it has survived to this day. Their answers are also part of the discussion on the contemporary challenges faced by the wire craft.
