Jewellery and wire objects by Blanka Šperková

Monika Škvarnová

Blanka Šperková (1948) studied graphic design, puppet art design, and TV and film graphic design. She has used her studies in various forms of utilitarian as well as free creation. In the recent period, wire has dominated in her creations. She has been working with it more intensively since 1976. She brings a very modern and very individual expression to this material, which is multiplied by her own original technology. This is close to knitting with knitting needles; however, the designer does without these tools. She binds a homogenous network from mainly apicultural wire, while occasionally she highlights parts of her work with colours. Her compositions are based on airiness, variability and transparency in the wirework – she creates several dimensions simultaneously.
