Such an ordinary mug

Such an ordinary mug

Viera Kleinová

Mugs dominate the creations of young ceramist Daniel Lichard. He tries to perceive this type of a vessel in its context, not as an isolated artefact. For the author, the context means examining the thickness of the pot so that the user can appropriately perceive and feel the drink’s taste, what kind of colour best evokes what we drink out of the mug, and what size and shape are most suitable for which kind of drink. Technologically, he is oriented to traditional methods of ceramics production – mugs turned on the wheel, glazed, and then baked in the oven.
