A feast of willow trees

A feast of willow trees

Editorial board

For the fifth year the celebration entitled ‘A Feast of Willow Trees’ took place in Drösing, a small border village lying at the confluence of the rivers Morava and Dyja. Pavilions, arbours and other objects made from wicker are assembled in both public and private spaces, which then produce green leaves when spring comes. The School of Utilitarian Art participated last year. Students from the Department of Design and Wood Shaping already have experience working with willow wickers. They brought with them a more professional and artistically mature view of the craft of basket making. They built an arbour with wooden benches for seating, several smaller seating areas covered by a small wicker roof, and a variety of other objects.
