Alexander Bodó from Šamorín has been a producer for ÚĽUV in Bratislava for more than twenty years, and he is currently the only supplier of cast bells. He is the proud holder of the title ‘Master of Folk Art’. His bells are still needed by shepherds for their flocks. Restorers and owners of historic furniture also use his skills for restoring or replacing missing ironwork. Alex Bodó only began focusing on cast products after reaching the age of forty. He himself built the workshop with all its equipment including a casting oven. He casts 20 types of bells, the largest one weighing 3 kilograms. He creates a new sand form for each product according to a prototype, and casts his bells exclusively from bronze. He adds a small amount of zinc to the melt to give his bells their characteristic clear ringing sound.
