The last five years of the work of Studio S+M+L+XL Metal and Jewel at the University of Fine Arts in Bratislava, which has clothes sizes in its name, can be seen at an exhibition in the Gallery Medium in April this year. The studio, led by academic architect Karol Weisslechner, declares through its name its intentions. S – small, shows space for the jewel as a free artistic expression, M – medium is about designing table settings, from cutlery up to candle holders or smaller interior or clothes accessories, L – large is space for interior expressions, and XL denotes the connection with architecture. The wide scale of their work was obvious at their exhibition, where students together with their teacher were able to play with the space of the gallery such that the created an installation that did not take place merely in closed glass cabinets or on walls behind glass.
