Tradition or design?

Tradition or design?

Sylvia Derňárová

An ambition to revive wire craft was first noticed throughout the 60s of the 20th century. Artists of that period started using wire in novel ways. However, even a more profound interest among both the artists and the general public was being felt throughout the 90s of the 20th century. Being still alive, it nonetheless exhibits a shift from original technologies and patterns. We asked questions about the extent to which contemporary artist, our producers and all those who keep wire craft alive follow old techniques and decor. Moreover, we asked whether some of them were tempted to shift traditional wire craft toward design and art. In our magazine you will find views of some of our respondents.
