Wire Variations by Štefan Smržík

Zuzana Strešnáková

Štefan Smržík from Námestovo has dedicated his life to tinkering since 1998. His artwork has been a part of exposition of ÚĽUV shop windows for years and it follows the Slovak traditions in Slovak wire art and smithcraft. He creates objects of everyday use and often uses wire and steel. In his free artwork he likes to create flat wire decorative pictures but also more elaborate figural statues, while his ideas are inspired by the animal world. His favourite designs are a little chicken and a cock. For his work and the precise and detailed elaboration of art pieces he received the title of a Master of Folk Art Production in 2008.
