Michal Škrovina, originally from Martin, has been painting on glass for several decades. His artistic work is recognisable at first glance; his subject matter and the way in which he presents them remains original even today. The paintings stand out with their high level of colour. He is inspired by traditional Slovak painting on glass, depicting subject matters from the traditional – village – environment and is influenced by the folk art of other countries and naive painting. He was awarded the title of Master of Folk Art Production in 2001.
