Back to wool

Back to wool

Martina Bizovská

One of the oldest textile techniques is thought to be felting, a method of producing textiles from the fibres of fur using pressure, heat and moisture, without the need for further sewing or shaping. In Slovakia, the technique of felting is most often associated with hat-making and shoe-making. Although working with wool has been declining for several years, it appears to be heading for a better future and is becoming popular once more. Proof of this is the work of Zuzana Golierová, who came across felting for the first time in 2007 at the airport in Reykjavík, Iceland. Today she creates her products under the brand Go For Felt Handmade. Products from her workshop are proof that a traditional technique can also be used in contemporary textile work and design.
